Experts Talk Increase in Great White Sightings

It’s not Shark Week, but try telling that to the great whites that have been especially visible of late with sightings from Huntington Beach to Palos Verdes.

Outdoorsman, Patch fishing columnist and host of the Phil Friedman Outdoors Radio Show, Philip Friedman recently talked to witnesses and shark experts about the recent great white sightings in local waters.

According to Friedman, “More and more great white sharks are being sighted off the Southern California coast every week. Now, an estimated 18 foot great white shark has been seen biting a sea lion in two near the Palos Verdes Peninsula.”

In a recent show on the increase in shark sightings and how to avoid an attack, Friedman talked to Triumphant Captain Danny Salas, who watched an 18-foot great attack a sea lion less than a mile from shore

He also interview shark expert Ralph Collier about the significance of these sightings and ways to avoid attacks.
