Four Injured in High-Speed Boat Crash

One man and three women are hurt near the Newport Harbor entrance.

Two boats, one traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed at the Newport Harbor entrance late Sunday, leaving four people injured, a fire captain said.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. when a 25-foot cigarette boat traveling at a high rate of speed hit a smaller, slower boat, Newport Beach Fire Capt. Glenn White said in a released statement. One man and three women were injured when the smaller boat capsized. They were taken to hospitals in Newport Beach and Mission Viejo.

Injuries included cuts, difficulty breathing, a fracture and one person lost consciousness, White said.
