Nancy Gardner is an Orange County native who was born in Newport Beach and raised in Corona del Mar. Gardner representsMore Corona del Mar and Newport Coast on the Newport Beach City Council and is particularly concerned with environmental issues and working to give residents a better quality of life. She was co-chair of the General Plan Advisory Committee and helped get the General Plan passed in 2006. Gardner is a graduate of Newport Harbor High School, received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California and holds a Masters of Arts from the University of California, Irvine.

Corona del Mar Middle & High School is a combined school located on East Bluff Drive in Newport Beach. The schoolMore serves students in the seventh through 12th grades, and in 2010, Newsweek Magazine ranked the school among the top one percent of high schools in the nation.

Students are dedicated to volunteering and helping improve the community and participate in various charitable projects throughout the school year. A community service program was also recently implemented at the high school level as a graduation requirement to highlight the importance of community relationships.
