I'm hoping that homosexuality wasn't considered the "mental illness" in this case. Unfortunately, in many religious families in the United States "mental illness" still appears to be the preferred category under which to compartmentalize homosexuality.

Until one has to fund such. Then it becomes about mooching, welfare, socialism, governmental influence etc.

Yes, it helps though when you close your eyes to gay teens committing suicide and instead choose to make martyrs out of the perpetrators.
Again, no one should have to suffer the pain of losing one's offspring -- not the Warrens, not the ones you hate or love.
The Warrens' grief was not caused by anyone else. Their kid allegedly had a mental illness and in a moment of despair he killed himself.
But there are those whose grief has been contributed by Warren and his ilk. Perhaps his supporters would be mindful of those as well.

Since we have utmost respect and…Read More honor for them, we find it difficult to hear the periodic mean-spirited comments made by some; mostly, ill-informed individuals. Rationale thinking says that any tragedy in the life of any person or family demands compassion from others--not railing. If we were able to collect the supportive notes and letters for the Warren family and compare them to those who are lacking kindness and empathy, I believe the clear message would be sent--Rick and Kay Warren are dearly loved and the presence of God is their strength.

I really think unless you have been in that state, you really don't know. I wish people would just use their energy to be grateful for both teens & families, thank everyone who in any way contributed (including prayer--I believe it all helped), marvel at how quickly a community can come together (remarks to me from Nick's family were how nice it was to know how many nice people there truly are), and learn from this what we can. But, do it without judgment which is just never helpful.

You have a male, female, and a bi (either F or M, no matter) - that way you have a true loving…Read More relationship that has all participating - you can actually have your own kids, you can have at least one, two, or three incomes to support a family, every thumped out actual bio kid has a mom, dad, and an extra of one or the other.
Whuts a more perfect union??! Seems a much better argument than what's been going on by ether side here - and even better if one of the three in such a union is a lawyer - not necessary but is economical. Leave 'marriage' as a term for the two in a hetero legacy relationship, and promote 'Thrunions' - threepers. It's all just about people loving and sexing each other anyway.
We can have marriage-2heteros; Thrunions, - 3of a male and female round-up, and logically and best suited for todays whirld; and Twunions-2 homos, M or F. Everybody gets taxed the same way. Case clothesed.
[And the lady in the news with the 40 year relationship, why she and her partner didn't go to legalzoom a long time ago and set up things so she didn't get stung by a $350k taxhit is not a homo or a hetero problem, but a brain freeze on these two ladies shortsighted sheet...holycow what a little schooling could help, instead of the headmush espounded by the 'newsmedias'...sheeesh!]

(even the Jtruvaltas, TCroozes, KSpaceez, and the Callooneys,,,I bullieve..). Just seems odd there's less outfront from these last two groups in the mix.
Logically, an argument for changing personal unions (...everybody could probubbly be better together if we just left the term 'marriage' alone and left it to the heteros...whuts the big deal 'friends'?; it's a big legal country here that can work fine with a contractual union that anyone can set up in this country - that's a lot less expensieve than 'getting married', hetero or homo, and stop trying to whistle up an ol river that has its own course and tack on to the well-existing 'marriage' term. There is an obvious distinction between hetro and homo unions, so get over it fellow/fellowette humans, ok)...but to continue some logic, the arguments played for homo unions are even better seved for human unions that really involve three people. Truly.
