Newport Harbor High School, "Home of the Sailors," is centrally located in Newport Beach near Costa Mesa. It was the first high school to be built in Newport Beach, in 1930. This ninth grade through 12th grade school is considered a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School. Its goal is to involve students, faculty, parents and the community to encourage a lifelong passion for learning. Its focus is on a meaningful integration of core knowledge, effective communication and interpretation, critical thinking and problem solving, creative expression and artistic appreciation, local, national and global awareness, and personal and social development.
