Melanie Andrews, granddaughter of famed jaxx trumpeter Eugene "Snooky" Young, has been in the music industry in a number of facets since she was a child. After singing on tracks by such world-famous acts as Janet Jackson and Earth, Wind & Fire, Andrews decided to open her own studio. In 2007, she began Melody Makers on this small strip mall in Newport Beach. Melody Makers is a studio for singers and dancers both amateur and professional. The vocal portion trains children up through adults on the technicalities of singing, as well as vocal coaching and styling. During the week, classes take place for all ages in jazz dance, hip-hop dance, ballet, tap and more. It also rents out the space for parties, which can include a recording session where each guest gets a recorded CD of their performance.
