In 1975, the first El Pollo Loco opened for business. It was just a tiny food stand in a small Mexican town. Quickly a local favorite, the operation was expanded across Mexico by its owners. The company opened its first American location in Los Angeles in 1980. Now more than 300 restaurants can be found across the U.S. The chain is best known for its secret chicken marinade and for its flame-grilled chicken preparation. El Pollo Loco also serves "pollo bowls," grilled burritos, salads, fresh salsas and warm tortillas.
