National Pastry Day, Property Tax Deadline, City Council Meeeting

Events taking place today and this week in Newport Beach.

1. Monday is National Pastry Day, as if you didn’t need an excuse on Monday for a pastry, cupcake or other sweet extravagance to make the start of the week a little easier.

2. Attention homeowners: Tuesday is the deadline for paying the first of two installments of your property taxes. You can pay Orange County taxes at this online link. But remember that in many cases taxes are paid through a mortgage lender.

3. The Newport Beach City Council meets on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 100 Civic Center Dr. Read the full agenda here.

4. The OASIS Senior Center in Corona del Mar is still accepting handmade hats for the homeless community. The hats are donated to Serving People in Need and distributed to the homeless community on the streets.  Donations can be dropped off at the OASIS Senior Center located at 801 Narcissus Ave. in CdM.

5. On Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., UC Irvine Health Senior Pharmacist Jody Jacobson Wedret will speak at the OASIS Evelyn Hart Event Center, 801 Narcissus Ave. in CdM. Wedret will offer useful information on the reasons aging adults may be more sensitive to the potent ingredients in medications, the various drug interactions that may occur when we take multiple meds, how often we should have a medication review, and what we can do to decrease our risk of health and safety issues with the medications we take.
