MLK Closures, Free Museum Admissions, Water Conservation Tips
Helpful tips for this week in Newport Beach.
1. Newport Beach City Hall, the OASIS Senior Center, post offices, schools, banks and libraries will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
2. Orange County offices will be closed on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Federal and state offices will also be closed, as will many businesses.
3.With Governor Jerry Brown announcing a statewide drought emergency, it’s a good time to check your home water use. The Metropolitan Water District offers extensive tips online.
4. Recent brush fires around Southern California are making the air in some cities unhealthy to breathe. The South Coast Air Quality Management District, the air pollution control agency for Orange County and urban areas of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, offers a map with current hourly air quality reports.
5. Twenty museums around Southern California are offering free admission Saturday as part of the annual Museums Free-for-All program. For a list of participating museums, visit the MuseumsLA website.
