On select Thursdays this summer, the Orange County Museum of Art in partnership with the Newport Beach Film Festival will showcase independent films about famous artists, architects and iconic designers. The series kicked-off Thursday with the outdoor screening of Gerard Richter Painting. The documentary was a look into the life of an accomplished artist who was born in Dresden, Germany and worked for more than 50 years.

"This is a fabulous way to spend an evening and expand your appreciation of independent cinema," Leslie Feibleman, of the Newport Beach Film Festival, said. "It's a relaxed, intimate setting where we screen the films about artists and innovators.
