Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, if you don't care about a lot of size, then it's worth grabbing a session. Yep, there's a fun amount of combo action. So, find a spot that picks up the mix of swells.
It's mostly clean and glassy early on, with a combination of mostly continued fading west-northwest swell and some minor south-southwest energy starting to show.
That recipe is offering some fairly peaky lines, with some fun workable shoulders. Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to stomach-high, with the top combo breaks pulling an occasional chest high set.

At 7:00 this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.5 low which will have many spots lacking water early to mid-morning. The tide then pushes back up to a 3.5 high at 1:18 this afternoon.
If you're going to get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI: County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the possibility of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
