Wednesday Surf Report

More modest swell out there!

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, it looks like our run of good size surf is sticking around for another day.  So, get out there and grab some of the action!

It's fairly clean, but some spots are seeing some texture on it early on.  We've got a combination of some holding west-northwest swell and some very small leftover south-southwest energy in the water.

That recipe is providing some racy and sectiony lines, with some nice shoulders to pick off, but some of the sets are a little walled.  Most Newport Beach spots are seeing waist- to shoulder-high waves, with the focal points pulling some head high sets.

Taking a look at those tides, at 7:11 this morning it pushes way up to a 5.5 high which is going to have many spots pretty swamped and a little inconsistent early to mid-morning.  Your best bet is once that tide drops a bit eventually draining out to a negative 0.7 low at 2:03 this afternoon.

If you're going get in the water, break out at least a 3/2 fullsuit or maybe a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 57 and 58 degrees.  See ya in the water!
