Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's looking like more of the same. We're seeing a small-to-decent dose of energy out there.
It's mostly nice and clean, with a combination of mainly lingering south-southwest swell and maybe a hint of northwest energy in the background. That recipe is offering some soft sectiony lines, with a few fast corners. Look for it to get steeper as that tide drops later in the day.
Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to waist-high, with the top south facing breaks pulling stomach high waves, with some chest high plus sets.

Checking the tides, at 7:37 this morning it climbs way up to a 5.4 high which will have many spots pretty swamped and slow early to mid morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 0.4 low at 2:18 this afternoon.
If you're planning on paddling, then you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
