Wave Check: Tuesday

It's definitely worth finding the time to paddle out!

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, if you can find the time, then grab your board and wetsuit and go get wet.  Yep, there's plenty of playful size waves and those conditions are cooperating!

It's mostly clean and glassy early on, with a mixture of energy out there.  We're seeing some slightly decreasing west northwest swell, some leftover southerly windswell and small amount of south southwest energy in the water.

That recipe is making for some racy sectiony and dumpy lines early on, with some nice wedgy shoulders and a few barrels to be had.  Most spots in Newport Beach are running about waist-to chest-high, with the top combo breaks pulling shoulder-high plus sets.

At 6:00 a.m the tide drained out to a negative 0.7 low which is going to have many spots really needing water early on.  The tide then pushes back up to a 4.1 high at 12:11 p.m.  If you can, wait for that tide to fill-in a bit!

If you're going to grab a session, you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI, The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to urban runoff, especially near storm drains, river mouths and harbor entrances.
