Wave Check: Tuesday

The south facing breaks are looking pretty playful.

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, you'll definitely want to hit up a south facing spot!  Yep, we're seeing some really early season southerly energy in the water.  It's nothing solid, but definitely offering some playful size waves.

It's mostly clean and glassy from the start, with a fair amount of south southwesterly swell in the water and not much northwest energy to speak of.  That recipe is offering some racy semi-walled lines, with some good pick and choose corners.

Most spots in Newport Beach are seeing knee-to chest-high waves, with the top south facing breaks possibly pulling an occasional bigger one.

At 7:00 a.m the tide climbs way up to a 5.4 high which will have many spots starting off pretty swamped and inconsistent throughout the morning.  The tide then drains out to a negative 0.5 low at 1:51 p.m.

If you're planning on paddling, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water.

FYI, remember the County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain, especially near storm drains, river mouths and harbor entrances.
