Wave Check: Friday

Go get wet before the next storm!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, it looks like things are starting off pretty nice, but don't hold your breath.  Yep, the latest storm has yet to arrive, so it looks like there's a little window to grab a session this morning!

The conditions are starting off pretty clean, with a mixture of slowly fading west northwest swell and some small south southwest energy in the water.  That's making for some kinda soft sectiony lines, with a few fast wedgy shoulders to grab.

Most spots in the Newport Beach area are running about knee-to chest-high range, with the top breaks pulling some shoulder-high sets.

At 8:44 a.m the tide climbs up to a 6.3 high which will definitely have some spots pretty full or even shut down mid-morning.  The tide then drains out to a negative 1.1 low at 3:21 p.m.

If you're going to squeeze in a surf, then you'll want to throw on at least the 3/2 fullsuit or the 4/3 and maybe the boots, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI, County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after a rain for at least 72 hours due to increased bacteria levels, especially near harbors, river mouths and storm drains.
