Tuesday Surf Report: Get to the Office on Time!

Crummy conditions from the start!

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, the lack of surf and crummy conditions isn't making it very inviting out there.  So, do yourself a favor and make it into the office or class on time!

We're dealing with some texture or bump on it from the start and don't be surprised if the conditions begin to deteriorate throughout the day.  Taking a look at the waves ... there's mostly minor northwest windswell and hardly any south-southwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some crumbly and dumpy sectiony lines, with a few decent ones.  Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to waist-high, with the top combo breaks seeing an occasional plus set.

Checking the tides ... at 10:21 later this morning it climbs up to a 4.1 high, which will have some spots a little soft and slow mid-morning.  The tide then drops to a 1.6 low at 3:22 this afternoon.

If you must get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature averaging between 59 and 61 degrees.  Good luck out there.

FYI...County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacterial levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
