Tuesday Surf Report

Seeing a new dose of southerly energy.

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, we're seeing an increase in the action, but those conditions are iffy!  It's starting off much cleaner today, but don't be surprised if the wind gets on it earlier than later.

As far as the waves go, we've got some building south southwest swell and not much northwest energy in the water.  That recipe is making for some drained out and fast sectiony lines, with some nice corners, but some of the sets are a little walled.

Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to stomach-high, with the top south facing breaks pulling chest-high waves, with a few larger sets.  Checking those tides.

At 4:58 early this morning it drained out to a negative 1.4 low which will have many spots lacking water early to mid-morning.  The tide then pushes back up to a 4.2 high at 11:17 later this morning and then drops again to a 1.3 low at 4:26 this afternoon.

If you're going to grab a session, well that water temperature has climbed up a bit, so you'll need no more than a 3/2 fullsuit, with it averaging between 59 and 61 degrees.  See ya in the water!
