Tuesday Surf Report

Looking a little disorganized!

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, we're seeing a pretty good amount of action, but it's looking a little jumbled up from yesterday's whipping winds.

The conditions are starting off semi-clean, with some residual lump and bump on the surface at many spots.  We've got a combination of mainly lingering northwest wind and groundswell in the water.

That recipe is making for some fast racy right-handers, with a few fun shoulders to pick off.  Watch for the current to be kind of strong, which will likely pull you down the beach today.

Most Newport Beach spots are seeing waist- to shoulder-high waves, with those focal points pulling head high waves, with maybe a few plus sets.

Taking a look at those tides ... at 5:54 this morning it drained out to a 0.7 low, which will have many breaks desperate for water early on.  The tide then pushes back up to a 3.6 high at 10:52 later this morning and then drops once again to a 1.3 low at 4:26 this afternoon.

If you're going to grab a session, definitely throw on that thicker fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 55 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI...The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours due to increased bacteria levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
