Thursday Surf Report

Poor conditions to start.

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, unfortunately we just can't get the Coastal Eddie to leave town.  Yep, that marine layer is bringing those lousy winds which isn't helping out the conditions.

There's some texture or bump on the water early on which is making it pretty unmotivating to paddle out.  As far as the surf goes...we're seeing some decreasing south southwest swell and just a smidgen of northwest windswell in the water.

That recipe is providing this stretch of sand with some drained out crumbly and bumpy semi-walled lines, with a few pick and choose corners.  Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to chest-high, with the top south facing breaks seeing some shoulder-high sets.

Taking a look at the tides: At 6:45 this morning it dropped to a negative 0.9 low which will have many spots lacking water and shape early on.  The tide then pushes back up to a 3.5 high at 1:22 this afternoon.

If you're itching to get wet, you can wear that 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature averaging between 59 and 61 degrees.  Good luck out there!
