Surfing Legends Aren't Deterred by Age or Sloppy Surf in Quicksilver Contest
23rd Annual Quicksilver City of Newport Beach Surf Championships drew middle aged surfers back to the historic surf known as "the hottest 100 yards" of Newport Beach.
The passion is still there. The skill is still there. The only thing that’s changed is the gray in the hair.
Surfers, 40 years old, or older braved wind, rain, sloppy surf and middle age to compete in the 23rd Annual Quiksilver City of Newport Beach Surf Championships Saturday. Surfing legend Todd Miller and his fellow silver haired competitors battled on the “the hottest 100 yards” of Newport Beach at the start of the two day event at 54th Street in Newport Beach.
