Newport Lifeguard Reports to Work With Gold Medal

Tumua Anae shares her Olympic gold medal with beachgoers at tower 24 in Newport Beach.

She won an Olympic Gold Medal in London, and now she's back to monitoring Newport Beach from lifeguard tower 24 with the coveted medal around her neck.

Tumua Anae, the goalie of the U.S. Women's Water Polo team, spent Tuesday maintaining safety at the beach and sharing her gold medal with fans who wanted to see it and take pictures with her, according to KCAL 9 Los Angeles.

"It’s really interesting to have someone where we live go to the Olympics and win a gold medal,” Mikala Davenport, a teenager from Newport Beach, told KCAL 9.
