Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, we're looking at mostly small energy out there, but those south-facing breaks seem to be picking up the most action offering a few playful size waves.
We have some fairly clean conditions with some spots seeing a little texture on the water from the start. It looks like one of those days where the wind could pick up sooner than later! Taking a look at the waves, there's mainly south-southwest swell and almost no northwest windswell to speak of.
That recipe is offering this stretch of sand with some fairly crumbly lines, with a few fun shoulders. You'll probably want to break out a small wave board of some sort! Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to waist-high, with the standout south facing breaks pulling an occasional stomach high set.

Checking the tides, at 8:50 this morning it climbs up to a 3.7 high and then drops to a 1.8 low at 1:32 this afternoon and then pushes up once again to a 6.7 high at 7:58 this evening.
If you're planning on paddling, a 3/2 fullsuit will do you right for at least that a.m session, with the water temperature averaging between 59 and 62 degrees. Good luck out there!
