Lynch Out As Aquatics Coach at Newport Harbor High

Veteran relieved of boys swimming and water polo coaching duties because of personal matter but will remain at school as teacher, according to principal.

Jason Lynch, who has coached in the highly successful aquatics program at Newport Harbor High since 2001, will not coach the Sailors again until further notice because of a personal matter at the school, according to principal Michael Vossen, as reported by the O.C. Register's Dan Albano in this article.

Lynch, who will continue as a health teacher at the school, was relieved of all of his coaching duties -- boys' swimming and boys' water polo -- on Monday, and the school is working on finding a replacement. Newport Harbor has a Sunset League swim meet scheduled today at Edison High. Lynch previously coached at Capistrano Valley, Costa Mesa and Marina highs.
