Ocean Lifeguard Championships

Pros from across the state show off their lifesaver skills in Newport Beach.

Professional lifeguards from throughout the state showed what they were made of on Saturday during the 2012 California Surf Lifesaving Championships near the Newport Beach Pier.

Events included surf swims, beach runs, rescues and board races, as well as ironman and ironwoman competitions.

The Junior Lifeguards Championships were Friday.
