Football: Western Christian 55, Sage Hill 35

Upland Western Christian finished the regular season undefeated for the first time in its history, and it wasn’t denied an extension of that winning streak Friday by an overmatched squad from Sage Hill.

The fourth-seeded Fighting Lancers scored an easy victory Friday at Upland High to advance to the second round of the East Valley Division playoffs.

Key Stats: Sarkis Panossian rushed 17 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns, of 19, 18 and 68 yards.

Pivotal Moment: Beau Roth scored from 9 yards with five seconds left in the first quarter to pull Sage Hill to 14-7, but 77 seconds later, Western Christian was back in the end zone on Andrew Henry’s 15-yard TD run. Western Christian had a 21-7 lead and, once again, momentum. It closed the first half with scoring runs of 52 and 68 yards.
