Sunset League: Sailors trail early before rallying with big plays.

Newport Harbor got off to a slow start but still managed to beat Marina and maintain first place in the Sunset League—along with two other teams.

Newport, Edison and Los Alamitos all share first place, and they don’t play each other in the final week of the season. Newport plays Huntington Beach next week; the Oilers were tough on Los Alamitos on Friday before giving way, 21-14.

Key Stats: Cole Norris passed for 186 yards and Chance Siemonsma rushed for 187 yards for Newport Harbor.

Pivotal Moment: Newport Harbor had given up two early scores and trailed 10-7 when Norris passed to Quest Truxton for an 85-yard scoring pass. It came on the heels of Siemonsma’s 80-yard run. The Sailors had the lead and the momentum with 1:13 left in the first quarter.
