Entire Newport Beach Little League Benched

District 55 suspends the league, effectively preventing some 700 children from playing ball.

If there is crying in baseball, no one would blame the players in this case.

That's because the entire Newport Beach Little League has been suspended.

In a variation of putting 10 ball players on the field, the Newport Little League has too many coaches on its board.

League president Gary Borquez told KABC that it was an administrative error, but "but we were at fault there."

Still, he thinks District 55, which oversees the league, went too far. "The punishment is egregious in this situation," Boroquez told KABC.

The Newport Beach Little League includes about 70 teams for children ages 5 to 13, according to KPCC.
