A Corona del Mar High School graduate won the USA Gymnastics' all-around competition Sunday, and will compete in the World Championships next month, according to a report in the Orange County Register.
Samuel Mikulak, 20, scored a victory Sunday afternoon at the competition held in Connecticut with a "daring and dominant performance," the newspaper reported. The 2012 Olympian's victories included the parallel bars and the high bar. Mikulak said he believes he can medal in the Worlds all-around.
“I’m not going to sell myself short," Mikulak told the newspaper. "That’s my goal and I’m going to have as much fun as I can in the process.”
The World Championships take place Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
