Whole Foods to Donate Some Profits to Spirit Run

On Feb. 28, the Fashion Island store will donate 5 percent of its net proceeds to the 30th annual Newport-Mesa Spirit Run.

Whole Foods at Fashion Island is doing its part to support the 30th annual Newport-Mesa Spirit Run by pledging a portion of one day's net proceeds to the racing event.

On Thursday, Feb. 28, Whole Foods will donate 5 percent of its net sales to the Newport-Mesa Spirit Run, organizers said. Anyone who shops between 3 and 7 p.m. can pick up a Spirit Run race number, T-shirt, and chip or register for the Spirit Run, which will be held on Sunday, March 3.

The Newport-Mesa Spirit Run is a tradition that began in 1983. The event includes a variety of runs, including 15k, 10k and 5k races for adults and runs for kids.

Whole Foods is located at Fashion Island at 415 Newport Center Drive, and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information and race registration, visit nmspiritrun.org.
