N-MUSD Invites Parents to Safety Meeting

A school safety meeting will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Newport-Mesa Unified School District office in Costa Mesa.

In response to uneasy feelings about the elementary school massacre in Connecticut, the Newport-Mesa Unified School District trustees will meet Tuesday to discuss school safety.

The special board meeting will be held at the N-MUSD's headquarters in Costa Mesa at 2:30 p.m. Laura Boss, district spokeswoman, says the school board trustees will have a roundtable discussion about the district's school safety efforts and plans to keep students and staff safe.

"Due to the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut the Board feels it is critical to hold this conversation now," Boss said. "Unfortunately, we have limited time and availability to get the meeting together due to the holiday next week.  We understand the notice is short but feel it is necessary in light of the current circumstances."
