Lincoln Principal Announces Retirement

Jane Holm announces her retirement after 16 years in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. The community is asked to help with the search for the school's new principal.

Lincoln Elementary School Principal Jane Holm will retire in August, she announced Wednesday.

Holm, who has worked in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District for 16 years, will retire next month, according to a district news release. Holm said she plans to spend more time with her family and pursue new interests.

"It was a very difficult decision for me, because it has been such a delight to work with our Lincoln children over the years. Watching our Lincoln kids grow and learn has been a very rewarding experience," Holm wrote in a released statement. " I will truly miss my Lincoln kids, the Lincoln families and the superb Lincoln staff."

An open recruitment process will begin immediately to find a new principal for Lincoln Elementary School, district spokeswoman Laura Boss said. The N-MUSD is also asking for input from the Lincoln Elementary School community regarding the qualities and attributes they would like to see in the next principal.

The goal is to have a new principal in place by the start of the new school year. Boss said the district is looking for an interim principal to serve at Lincoln in August to help with back to school tasks.
