Hundreds Have Yet to Comply with Tdap Law

The deadline for students' whooping cough booster vaccinations was extended until Oct. 7.

Officials at Corona del Mar High School say there are more than 400 students who have not yet complied with a new state law that requires students to receive a whooping cough booster shot.

At last week's PTA meeting, school nurse Cindy Grainey said that the new law required all incoming seventh- through 12th-graders to receive a whooping cough booster shot before school started on Sept. 6 but that the deadline was extended until Oct. 7.

Proof of the Tdap booster shot must include the student’s name, date of birth, vaccine name, date the vaccine was administered, and name of the clinic, office or doctor administering the vaccine.
