The waters at North Star Beach in Newport Bay were reopened at about 11:15 a.m. after contamination from a 1,000 gallon sewage spill was cleared, health officials reported.
Monday's sewage spill was caused by a line blockage in the city's sewage collection system closed the bay water area at North Star Beach in Newport Bay, according to county health spokesman Larry Honeybourne.
