Rick Perry Making His Way to Newport Beach Fundraisers

The events are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Presidential hopeful Rick Perry will make to Newport Beach today at two fundraisers.

Tickets for the 6 p.m. VIP reception are being sold for $2,500, the maximum individual contribution allowed under federal law, and include a picture with Perry. At 6:30 p.m. a cocktail reception will follow, with tickets selling for $1,000 for the event. All proceeds will benefit Perry's race to the White House. The Texas governor rallied his supporters in Corona del Mar in September,  talking about job creation and the economy.

“With all due respect to my opponents, no one has a record like me when it comes to the economy and creating jobs in America,” Perry said, maintaining his position that Texas is one of the strongest states economically in the U.S.

Before he comes to Newport Beach today, Perry will hold fundraisers in Palo Alto and Los Gatos. Perry's California fundraising swing comes in the midst of a major campaign effort in Iowa, which conducts the first caucus. Perry participated in the National Association of Manufacturers presidential forum Tuesday in Pella, Iowa, and later campaigned at a diner in Des Moines, where he also held a town hall meeting. He is scheduled to return to Iowa on Thursday for two more days of campaigning.
