Photos: Okazaki Students Visit Newport Beach

The exchange students traveled from Okazaki, Japan, which is located 200 miles southwest of Tokyo.

Exchange students from Okazaki spent some time in Newport Beach earlier this month as part of the Newport Beach Sister City Association.

“It was a very nice event and it's great that we have a program like this to promote cross cultural understanding with our sister cities,” said Newport Beach Mayor Mike Henn.

Since 1984, the Newport Beach Sister City Association, in conjunction with the Newport - Balboa Rotary Club, has annually selected six junior high school students to visit Okazaki in July. They stay for a 10 day visit and in October the students host their Japanese friends in Newport Beach.
