Meet the Mayor Wednesday at OASIS

Mayor Rush Hill will attend a wine and cheese social on Wednesday afternoon at the OASIS Senior Center in Corona del Mar.

The OASIS Senior Center is kicking off the new year this week with a community event and special guest Newport Beach Mayor Rush Hill.

The wine and cheese social will be held Wednesday, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Hill will attend with his wife, Linda, and encourages community members to join them.

“Knowing our neighbors – interacting with one another – is essential for maintaining a strong sense of community and I can think of no better way to do that than through the fun events held here," Hill said. "Linda and I are excited about meeting new people, catching up with existing friends, and hearing what’s of interest to city residents as we attend community events throughout the year."

This week's Wine & Cheese Social is open to anyone 21 years of age and older, and will include live music and tours of the senior center. Hill said the event will be a great time for residents to explore what the OASIS has to offer.

“Many people don’t realize all that OASIS has to offer,” Hill added. “Particularly, residents age 50 and over can join the outstanding fitness center and anyone age 18 and over can participate in the classes. The classes range from fine arts to finance, gardening to cooking, and fitness to foreign languages. It’s already a popular place, but there’s always room for even more seniors and others to join in the fun.”

Tickets for the event must purchased no later than Tuesday at 5 p.m. The tickets are $5 each and can be purchased during business hours at the OASIS administration office or by telephone at 949-644-3244.

The event will be held in the Evelyn Hart Event Center at the OASIS Senior Center located at 801 Narcissus Ave. in Corona del Mar.
