Harbor Commissioner to Run for City Council

Joseph Stapleton announces his plan to run for the District 1 seat held by Councilman Mike Henn who will be termed out in the November 2014 election.

Newport Beach Harbor Commissioner Joseph Stapleton will run for a seat on the City Council, according to a statement issued Thursday.

Stapleton will be running for the District 1 seat held by Councilman Mike Henn who will be termed out in the November 2014 election. Stapleton said if elected to the City Council he will continue his mission to make a positive difference in the community.

“I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and want to make an impact, bring about meaningful changes where necessary, while serving the concerns of the residents in Newport Beach,” Stapleton said in a released statement.

Stapleton is the vice-chair for the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He founded The Elite OC, a non-profit organization created as a philanthropic group for young professionals.

Stapleton has also held a seat on 11 different boards and committees including the OC Marathon and Leadership Tomorrow.

Stapleton holds a bachelors of science degree in Business Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona and works as a financial advisor.
