Governor Names Newport Woman OC Judge

Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. Thursday appointed two men and a women as Orange County Superior Court judges.

Thomas A. Glazier, 53, of Lake Forest, is an assistant district attorney in Orange County, who earned bachelor's and law degrees from Brigham Young University. Glazier, a Republican, will fill a vacancy that opened up last year.

Martha K. Gooding, 59, of Newport Beach, has been a partner at the Jones Day law firm since 2011 after being a partner at Howrey LLP since 2000. The Democrat earned a bachelor's degree from Cal State Long Beach and a law degree from UC Berkeley. She will fill the vacancy left by David Thompson, who is now a justice on the Fourth District Court of Appeal.

Robert A. Knox, of Irvine, served in the Orange County Public Defender's Office from 1984 until this year, when he went into private practice. Knox, a Democrat, earned a bachelor's degree from UC Davis and a law degree from Pepperdine University. He fills a vacancy that opened up last year.
