Governor Brown Names Newport Woman OC Judge

Terri K. Flynn-Peister has served as deputy chief assistant United States attorney for the Central District of California since 2002.

Gov. Jerry Brown appointed a Newport Beach woman to the Orange County Superior Court today.

In her new role as an OC judge, Terri K. Flynn-Peister, 38, will earn an annual salary of $178,789, the governor's office announced. Flynn-Peister, a Democrat, fills the spot vacated by Judge Kazuharu Makino upon retirement.

According to the governor's office, Flynn-Peister has served as deputy chief assistant United States attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California since 2002. She was previously an assistant United States attorney for the border crimes units at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California and an associate at Latham and Watkins LLP.

It's been a big year for Flynn-Peister.

She also recently celebrated her marriage to her husband, Justin, when the couple exchanged vows on Oct. 13 at Saint James Church in Newport Beach.

Flynn-Peister earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Tulane University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego.
