City Seeks Input on Land Usage Rules

The city is asking community members to provide input on its plan to change land use rules.

The city is asking community members to provide input on its plan to change land use rules as notated in its General Plan, according to a released statement.

The Land Use component of the General Plan includes policies that govern the different types and locations of the land uses permitted throughout Newport Beach. A Land Use Element Amendment Advisory Committee was recently appointed by the City Council to to review and identify potential changes to the city’s land use policies and map.

According to the city, the proposed changes decrease development potential in some areas of the city, while increasing it in some areas. Newport Beach property owners with questions about the project, or who are interested in land use changes to their property, are invited to contact Gregg Ramirez,
Senior Planner, at 949-644-3219 or gramirez@newportbeachca.gov to submit suggestions and input.

The Land Use Element Amendment Committee’s next meeting is Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room, 1000 Avocado.
