Newport City Hall Moving Next Week

Newport Beach City Hall will be closed as staff moves to the new Civic Center near Coast Highway and Avocado Avenue.

It's almost moving day for Newport Beach.

Beginning Friday, April 5 through Wednesday, April 10 Newport Beach City Hall will be closed and in the process of moving from its current location at 3300 Newport Blvd. to its new home at 100 Civic Center Dr. Located near Coast Highway and Avocado Ave., the new Newport Beach Civic Center will open on Thursday, April 11 at 7:30 a.m.

Mayor Keith Curry said he is looking forward to the new digs.

"It will create a place in the center of our city for all residents to come together to interact with the city, enjoy the great new park or take advantage of our award winning library," Curry said. "The Civic Center will be an iconic symbol of Newport Beach for generations to come."

During the closure, city staff will be working to unpack and prepare the new building, but City Hall offices and public counters will be closed.

City spokeswoman Tara Finnigan said the city's web site, email and phone systems and online services will be unavailable from Thursday, April 4 at 9 p.m. through the morning of Friday, April 5. The city's data center will be relocated during that time and staff won't have access to their desktop computers.

All online systems are expected to be back up and running by the end of Friday.
