The Helping 100 Businesses for 100 Days Workshop attracted about 250 attendees last year.

For the second year in a row, Newport Beach is partnering with an Orange County-based consulting firm to give local business owners complimentary expert advice on how they can re-launch their businesses for success in 2012.

The city and OPIS Network will host Helping 100 Businesses for 100 Days on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the in Corona del Mar.

Norm Bour, community development manager of OPIS Network, says the purpose of the workshop is to assist businesses that are having hard times in today's economic climate.

"The old rules are gone permanently and businesses must be nimble, resourceful, and truly understand what they do, who their client is, and most important, what makes them different," Bour said.

The workshop will promote a 10-point strategy designed to help business owners develop competitive positioning, create new affiliate channels for marketing exposure and capital, understand the best way to leverage online deals and remain competitive in a technology-driven, global economy.

From the workshop, 100 businesses will be selected to receive free additional training—three live classes and six online seminars—over the following hundred days. During that time, the students will learn elevator pitches, how to hone in on what their customers want and taking what they learned and applying it to increase sales.
