UCI Student Arrested for Allegedly Carrying Loaded Gun on Campus

By City News Service

A UC Irvine student pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of carrying a loaded gun on campus.

Manas Moole Reddy, 28, was standing near a tree just north of Steinhaus Hall Service Road on the UCI campus about 3 p.m. Monday carrying a shoulder bag with his hand in it allegedly clutching a revolver when a student walking by noticed the gun in his open bag and called the university's police, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Reddy was charged Wednesday with possessing a loaded gun on a college campus, unlawful possession of a gun and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, all felonies.

If convicted at trial, Reddy could face up to four years in prison.
