Tito Ortiz Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After Crash

Huntington Beach's Tito Ortiz was arrested early Monday following a non-injury crash on a West Los Angeles freeway.

Mixed martial artist Tito Ortiz was arrested today on suspicion of driving drunk following a non-injury crash on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the West Los Angeles area, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Ortiz, 38, whose full name is Jacob Christopher Ortiz, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol following the crash, which occurred about 3:50 a.m. on the northbound freeway south of Santa Monica Boulevard, the CHP reported.

According to the preliminary investigation, Ortiz was driving on the freeway "when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the concrete center median," the CHP reported.

"California Highway Patrol officers responded to the area and located Ortiz and his 2012 Porsche Panamera on Sepulveda Boulevard south of Santa Monica Boulevard," the CHP reported. "There were two passengers in his vehicle at the time of the collision. His vehicle sustained moderate right front and right rear damage and there were no injuries as a result of the collision.

"Upon the conclusion of the collision investigation, it was determined Ortiz was under the influence of alcohol, and (he) was placed under arrest for ... misdemeanor driving under the influence," the CHP reported. "He was transported to the LAPD 77th Division for medical clearance and chemical testing and was booked without incident."

Ortiz, a native of Huntington Beach, is a mixed martial arts fighter and a former light-heavyweight Ultimate Fighting Championship champion.
