Thieves Burglarize Cars in Newport and CDM

The Newport Beach Police Department is urging residents to lock their cars and secure their valuables.

Several cars were burglarized throughout the city this week, and police are reminding residents to take some simple precautions to avoid becoming a target.

The thieves used force to break into the 11 cars and took property that was left in plain sight, according to the Newport Beach Police Department. Among the stolen items were laptops, briefcases, wallets, cameras and five purses.

1100 block of Back Bay Drive
1200 block of Marian Lane
20th Street/Court Avenue
2600 block of Bunya Street
2900 block of Paper Lane
300 block of Bayview Circle
600 block of Jasmine
700 block of Marigold Avenue
Constellation Drive/Santiago Drive

Police reminded residents to take the following precautions:

  •  Take all valuables out of the car or hide them before you park.
  •  Lock your vehicle.
  •  Make sure windows and sun roofs are closed.
