Thieves Burglarize Cars in CDM

For the third time this year, the Newport Beach Police Department is urging residents to lock their cars and secure their valuables.

Thieves broke into three cars this week in Corona del Mar, and police are again reminding residents to take precautions.

The three thefts occurred sometime between Sunday evening and early Monday. The thieves smashed the windows of the cars that were parked in the 700 block of Iris Avenue, the 2600 block of Bungalow Place and the 2600 block of San Joaquin Hills Road, according to the Newport Beach Police Department. Among the stolen items were a gym bag, an iPod, a BlackBerry cell phone, a GPS and CDs.

Police said it was unknown if the three vehicle burglaries were related.
