Reagan Statue Returns—With Security Camera

City officials say repairs to the bronze sculpture cost about $6,550.

The bronze statue dedicated to former President Ronald Reagan is standing again at Bonita Canyon Sports Park in Newport Beach.

The statue had been undergoing repairs since a vandal the statue in November. Tara Finnigan, city spokeswoman, said the statue was reinstalled Thursday. 

"The cost to repair and reinstall the statue was approximately $6,550," Finnigan said. "There is now a security camera in place, too."

The bill for the repairs was paid by the city, Finnigan said.

The extra security precautions were added in an effort to thwart incidents like the on Nov. 6, which happened less than a month after .

The city is offering a for information resulting in the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for damaging the sculpture. Kathy Lowe, Newport Beach police spokeswoman, said the investigation is at a standstill.

"There are no new leads in the case," Lowe said.
