Rain Makes for a Challenging Christmas Eve Commute

A car was towed out of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve Monday morning.

Police officers and tow truck drivers were busy Monday morning as scores of crashes were reported on rain-slicked roadways in Orange County.

Most crashes were of the fender-bender variety, but one car in Huntington Beach ended up submerged in the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Authorities found nobody inside the Mitsubishi Lancer and the airbags had not been deployed, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The distracting weather is expected to clear for the rest of Monday and Christmas Day, with a chance of rain returning next weekend.

Read a full report of the submerged Mitsubishi on the Los Angeles Times website.
