Police: Men Chase Victim With Knife, Stick

The victim suffered minor injuries. The suspects are still outstanding.

Two men with a knife and stick who chased a victim down a Corona del Mar street this weekend are still outstanding, a police official said today.

The incident was reported early Saturday morning, when an unknown male suspect brandished a knife and chased the victim down Avocado Avenue from the Transportation Center, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.

"The victim outran the suspect and was confronted by a second unknown male who was wielding what was described as a stick or branch," Lowe said in an email to Patch. "The second suspect used the stick/branch to strike the victim on the inner thigh. The victim sustained minor injuries."

Police took a report from the victim for assault with a deadly weapon, Lowe said. The man with a knife was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 200 pounds, about 40-years-old, with black hair, balding on top and was wearing dark pants and a dark colored shirt.

The victim could not provide a description of the second suspect.
